School closures due to COVID-19 have placed a spotlight on the impact of these inequities and it is vital that schools and districts, as they are preparing for the fall and beyond, keep educational equity central so that our response to these unprecedented circumstances does not compound disparities that already existed for economically disadvantaged students and students of color.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/urbanleaguela.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2020-New-Orleans-Education-Equity-Report-Summary.pdf\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-94022 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/urbanleaguela.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2020-Advancing-Educational-Equity-For-Public-Schools-In-New-Orleans.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"x_text-container x_galileo-ap-content-editor\">\n<div>\n<div align=\"justify\">These gaps and disparities are illustrated in the second edition of the\u00a0Advancing Educational Equity for Public Schools in New Orleans\u00a0report, <a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=0010KmT94X48-TkLr-snKsERBTnkOAMtcYrTJwJy0FCNh4NjnP1KqsJmfDNn7rXOod3eMh5uzuPyO5_zJEVfZTpnBPtFX5P-ubJHx3-s8FV5EPi64em_FyXaCzdIZSkI3l6mR-NQRiiIy3SlCG65PnwW-7VG4GYfusSUNA95OGB8lN-acn2UhtVDMQPcobYSfGlACIad0-OXBPYFCk1FEL_zg8a9RLoYe6NQ8dzVWaoooZTzkQl1qXWokoOk4J0TvOplTmlYhFRE7c=&amp;c=WltjztW6BWPg1OGgNEVIPwP0TneH1DMPUVc7PK3azq3UyF38eSqhIw==&amp;ch=GXHaojwgD8HW92zWu7BC-W_fu2lMt1Cglc2Q-n9NRMdskUCdoPObeQ==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">the summary of which is now available.<\/a> The most recent report finds that many gaps remain unchanged or have grown since the first edition in 2017, despite increases in overall school performance.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_text-container x_galileo-ap-content-editor\">\n<div>\n<div align=\"justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/urbanleaguela.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/BR-Equity-Report-Online.pdf\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-90137 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/urbanleaguela.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Advancing-Education-Equity-BR-232x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">Similar trends were found for public schools in East Baton Rouge Parish, as documented in the report we released in the fall of 2019,\u00a0Advancing Educational Equity in Public Schools in Baton Rouge,\u00a0which found that achievement gaps begin in elementary school and persist through high school. <a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=0010KmT94X48-TkLr-snKsERBTnkOAMtcYrTJwJy0FCNh4NjnP1KqsJmR_cZ_9uFAIg1HugHtxjtx1ELutHw0FNB1T0yqWd1_tuO52JHxqWRFTkiopwDX4ATywDw67HuSSBxfSl1gdnkv6au1bp7fUR8GKBx0hgoXxJCtMfogQv4Exh8iKQFj4bQ03v_kxb8LfppeH90kaYvNVOGv0_MRRiYriJAGCkAbsD4aHORyaOxec=&amp;c=WltjztW6BWPg1OGgNEVIPwP0TneH1DMPUVc7PK3azq3UyF38eSqhIw==&amp;ch=GXHaojwgD8HW92zWu7BC-W_fu2lMt1Cglc2Q-n9NRMdskUCdoPObeQ==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">The Baton Rouge report can be viewed here.<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/urbanleaguela.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Urban-League-Education-Priorities-and-Strategic-Approach.pdf\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-94031 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/urbanleaguela.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2020-Education-Priorities-and-Strategic-Approach.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For that purpose, the Urban League of Louisiana is sharing a framework for statewide education equity.
