Educational reform is moving forward on both the national and state levels. Louisiana has made significant gains over the last decade. As you may know, the state has been recognized as a leader in school accountability and in teacher quality programming. Much has changed on the educational “landscape”: schools, teachers, and the need for new leaders. Current research shows leadership is the most important factor-after teaching-that impacts student achievement. To move Louisiana forward, we must have new educational leaders.
Recognizing the importance of new leaders, Louisiana is working faster and smarter by creating a new network comprised of Department. of Education-designed PD programs and graduate level Master’s programs through universities and colleges. As part of a grant from The Wallace Foundation, there are district- and college- partnerships working together in a special leadership skills building program. All of these opportunities for career advancement in both instruction and administration are readily available to you no matter where you teach or work.
