  • Have a desire to improve teaching and learning in classrooms;
  • Possess teaching experience;
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities in schools, districts, and/or communities.

Steps to pursue a graduate degree in Educational Leadership:

  • Explore this website to identify universities in Louisiana that offer Master of Education in Educational Leadership degrees. Additionally, visit: www.teachlouisiana.net;
  • Review the admission requirements to the university and the requirementsfor the Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree programs;
  • Select the program that best addresses your needs and contact the university to secure forms to be admitted to the university;
  • Address the requirements to be admitted into the Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree program;
  • Successfully complete all course requirements for the Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree program; and
  • Near the completion of graduate coursework, take the School Leadership Licensure Assessment (Educational Testing Service) that is required by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education for Level 1 Educational Leadership Certification.
